Lemon Drop, 3090
Lemon Drop is a bold and bright yellow and is the first cadmium based color that can achieve an intentional translucent finish. Being a cadmium color, its shade and saturation will vary.
Working Tip: Work this color like a Crayon color. Pre-heat in outer flame and avoid rapid heating. Try layering this color over other colors for cool results. You don’t have to layer thick to achieve vibrancy.
“Lemon Drop is a stable, what you see is what you get transparent, that can yield an array of finishes due to its chemical nature. The best way to approach this color is understanding the array of finishes and knowing how to utilize the rod to achieve the intended look. Some sticks may be able to give you a transparent yellow tint over clear with as little as a 1mm layer coating. That same rod may also yield a translucent or milky-transparent lemon yellow when gathered into a solid or coiled into a solid color bubble. . Lemon Drop can coat a tube or piece of rod in a thin veil or a thick layer for different looks. When going for the highest level of clarity and transparency, try Lemon Drop sandwiched between clear layers and either puff it or draw it out a bit. Lemon Drop likes to be manipulated but you have to use finesse, like when working a crayon color or other opaques. The optics are great on cut pieces and Lemon Drop has a high refractive index which means that as light passes through, it catches the color and makes it pop and shine. Lemon Drop is beautiful when paired next to the lineup of Glass Alchemy Purple Rain, Rozay, Brilliant Blue and Haterade, along with others from the candy clear transparent palette. I also like it with Jackpot, Paparazzi and Grape.” – Mike Shelbo
